How should commonly used components of a vertical machining center be maintained on a routine basis?

1. Servo Motor and Spindle Motor Components of a Vertical Machining Center

The servo motor and control system are key components for the machine tool's power source and precision control. Pay close attention to noise and temperature rise. If noise or temperature rise is excessive, determine whether the problem stems from mechanical issues such as bearing problems or parameter settings of the matching amplifier, and take appropriate measures to resolve them. Abnormal noise during servo axis movement may be due to mechanical noise caused by misalignment of the leadscrew, coupling, or servo motor. Disconnect the vertical machining center motor from the coupling and run the motor alone. If the motor still makes noise, adjust the speed loop gain and position loop gain appropriately until the motor is silent. If there is no noise, the problem is with the concentricity of the leadscrew and coupling. Recalibrate the concentricity and reconnect to the motor; the problem should generally be resolved.

2. Measurement Feedback Components of a Vertical Machining Center

Measurement feedback components include encoders, linear scales, etc. Regularly check and inspect the connections of these components for looseness and contamination by oil or dust. Dust and fine iron filings can damage these components. 3. Electrical Control Section of Vertical Machining Center

Regularly check if the external three-phase power supply voltage connected to the machine tool is normal; check if the electrical component connections are good; use the CRT diagnostic screen to check if all switches are effective; check if all relays and contactors are working properly and if the contacts are good; check if the thermal relays, arc suppressors, and other protective components are effective; check if the internal components of the vertical machining center's electrical cabinet are overheating. For poor contact of contactor contacts, disassemble the contactor, use a small file to remove the high-temperature oxides on the contact surface, then wipe away the debris with degreasing cotton and alcohol, reassemble, and then use a multimeter to test the continuity of the contacts.

4. CNC System Control Section of Vertical Machining Center

The control system includes the CNC unit, power module, I/O interface, servo amplifier, spindle amplifier, operation panel, and display. Maintenance mainly involves checking if all relevant voltage values are within the specified range; whether electrical component connections are loose; whether the fans of each functional module are operating normally, and cleaning the dust from the fans and dust filters, etc.
